SYSTEMS' APPROACH IN ASTROLOGY

----- Original Message ----- From: D N To: Prof. Choudhry Sent: Monday, February 04, 2008 9:52 PM Subject: Good News Dear Prof. Choudhry,

I am writing to let you know that I got accepted to University for Medicine. My parents and I am very happy. We have been waiting too long to see this day. I am hoping that I will get more offers from other medical schools that I had applied, but I, at least, have one acceptance.

I also have some other news to tell you. My father met with an accident last month. The vehicle is quite damaged, but by God's grace, nothing happened to him. We believe that God and the power kavach saved him.

Thank you for all your support. Sincerely, D N

Dear List Members,

I recently had the good fortune to pay a visit to Professor Choudhry at his home in Gurgaon. If we can judge the quality of a system or learning by having an impression of the qualities of its propounder, then it is easy to see why Systems Approach is so amazing, authentic, and effective. For those who have not yet met him in person, his kindness, generosity, hospitality and wisdom presence are certainly consonant with what we have been appreciating on the list.

I will attach a few photos of Professor, his wife and son Rajesh to a separate message.

Subject: [satva101] Blind Chart July 10, 2007 - THE REVEAL!!!!

Hello everyone,

What a wonderfully positive and overwhelming response to this blind chart thread (and I thought it might die off without a whimper!).

This is the chart of the American actress Jennifer Jason Leigh whose father, actor Vic Morrow, was tragically killed on July 23, 1982 while filming on the movie set of "The Twilight Zone" by a helicopter that freakishly spun out of control.

The key to this was the operating planetary periods of Jupiter/Jupiter as 8th lord of accidents/death. The violent influence of the exactly afflicting Ketu upon both Jupiter and the natal Sun, signifying father, all occuring in the 9th house signifying father.

Separating out the other possibilities of the death of a spouse, maternal uncle, siblings or children was accomplished by the weight of three functional malefics operating in the 9th house of father; all of which are in close conjunction to the Sun which signifies father.

The trigger was the transit affliction of the nodal axis across the MEP of the 2nd house of immediate family and the bhukti/subperiod lord's MEP of the 8th house; signifying accidents/death.

There is a lot going on in this chart to say the least! And probably much that still hasn't yet manifested in her life. The close impact of many planets, both malefic and benefic all in one house, made for many potentialities which compelled me to post it up for a blind analysis.

Yet, even with these complexities, Systems Approach prevailed with the majority of participants immediately focusing in on the death of an immediate relation with nothing more than some birth data and an event date.

To me this is a great testimony to the accuracy of Systems Approach to Vedic Astrology that our preceptor, Shri Choudhry, has so generously bestowed upon us in the form of an understandable, methodical and scientific approach to this divine science. If it were not "systematic" how could so many participants zero in on the same life issue?

Everyone contributed some insightful ideas and the application of SA principles where fairly consistent throughout. I noticed that those that came closest to the mark seemed to follow Shri Choudhry's recommended "How to Analyze a Chart in 3 Minutes" approach as outlined in his book "Impact of Ascending Signs" page 23.

Posts by the following people were particularly accurate,, insightful and true to Systems Approach principles:

Krishnamurthy Seetharama hit it dead on with his analysis connecting the 6L and 8L on the same degree in the 9th house with an afflicted Sun predicting the death of the father.

Razia was very close indicating a death/divorce of a spouse though, she was unmarried at the time (which you couldn't have known!). However with the involvements of the karakas for spouse (either Jupiter or Venus both being involved) this is true to form.

Shayn Smith zeroed in on the death of an immediate family member

David Hawthorne (is it any surprise for our resident Guru?!?!?) indicated a loss of parents through fire, explosion or accident which was the case exactly!

Amit with engineer-like analysis concluded "losses in family, possibly of father or elder brother, the circumstances could be their health or accidents" .

Remi Panisset gets the award for the most concise and straightforward analysis that was precisely on target. Kudos! Everyone should read this post as a model example of brevity and honed SA skills.

Guru narrowed it down to death by accident to mother-in-law or parents which is also commendable.

Vyas indicated "Accidental death during a dispute that turned violent is indicated to a male family member, perhaps father." This is largely correct is we expand the violence to something machine-based but, again, pinpointing the death of her father by accident alone is sleight of hand enough for me!

This has been great! I really enjoyed reading the posts and getting insights into everyone's analysis. I wouldn't have done so well myself. So, I will keep posting Blind Charts instead! ;>)

There are more interesting things to be found about this chart through her bio! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Jason_Leigh

I should like to mention the consistently of the character portrayals that Jennifer Jason Leigh has had throughout her film career. It is fascinating to me that she has repeatedly portrayed prostitutes. Additionally, she has played drug or alcohol abusers and a psychopath!

Take a look at the 12th lord of vices, Mars, conjunct the 11th lord of career, Saturn, in the 9th house of good fortune. This connects the career to vices like sex and drugs but through the 9th house of spirituality, father and good fortune it found a constructive outlet.

Further, note the placement of the 5th lord Mercury near the MEP of the 9th house of good fortune connecting the Leo-like 5th house of theater, entertaining and showmanship with good fortune.

The proximity of the Sun and Mercury is interesting because both she and her dad were "method" actors who immersed themselves in their roles through heavy research (Mercury) into their characters. Mrs. Leigh has even gone so far as interview sex workers and drug addicts to understand their lives for more accurate portrayal in her roles. It's an incredible chart of a remarkable woman who is revered for her acting abilities and the depth of emotional representation of her characters.

A guru is a remover of darkness.

Our Guru, Shri Choudhry, also removes "blindness"!

Until we meet again...

Warm regards,

Matt

Subject: [satva101] Value of Systems Approach Hello,

I did once think Systems Approach was not "that good".

However, as a method to learn and understand astrology, I think now it is great. Denis Labouré, in France published only one book of jyotish and it was devoted to SA (with some liberties on the system).

But more important, as I read what people write on the jyotish lists, is that I think that they expect jyotishi to predict *anything* and *every thing* in their life. I think that is a major mistake. Jyotish should be used to know major events and trends in our life. To discover what area of our life will be activated by planets is already enough ;-)

Hello Professor Choudhry,

Your weekly predictions on the web site have been remarkable as of late. In early to mid January your predictions for Virgo stated that some of would be going on long journeys and indeed I did. I went to Fairfield for a meditation course and to see David and everyone else. For the past seven months I am sitting in Jamaica, West Indies.

But it is your prediction for the week ending February 8th that has me in awe. In it you stated "In your hour of need Divine help is likely to be there". On Tuesday February 3rd I was robbed at knife point. I'm am OK and the only thing taken was my mobile which has already been replaced. The man who did this was quite capable of doing violence and it is only through Divine Grace that I am OK with little loss of property.

Sir, your skills and talents are remarkable.

All the best, Andrew Schulman

Dear David,

It is simply beyond words for me to express this new found joy in analysing charts. I can emphatise with you on your sentiments.

Let me give you one case:

The chart is that of a young girl. Based on her chart her Lagna is Capricorn. Her father, Sun, is very weak posited in Leo at 29 degrees. Lack of continous support from father was seen. The natal 9th lord, Mercury, (father) in Leo was posited at 11 degrees. When transit Rahu conjunct natal Mercury in a slow manner, she lost her father in an accident. No other malefic planets played a role. I mean the principles as set down and taught by our dear Prof. is impeccable and worthy of mention here.

All students of astrology will derive the sweet fruits after the the seeds of hard work are planted in a fertile soil layered with a sense of inquisitiveness, curiousity and inventiveness.

Let all detractors of the SA remain muted and hold their speech in awe.

Dear Friends:

Systems' Approach continues to amaze me, even after 16 years of studying Jyotish and more than six years of studying SA.

Almost daily a significant event in a person's life is easily connected to a principle we use in SA.

For example, this evening while reading a chart for someone, I discovered he was in an accident two years ago, fatally injuring a 16-year old girl.

At the time of the accident, five planets including his main and sub period rulers were transiting his eighth house.

Another example....

Recently a husband and father of two teenagers took his own life.

I have never done his chart, or that of his wife, but I did have the daughter's chart in my file, which gave the Cancer rising sign.

In the natal chart, Jupiter, a FM for the Cancer rising sign, was on the MEP of the eighth house (deathlike experience), afflicting the second house (continuation of family life), and fourth house (parents).

Her operating planet (sub period ruler), was Jupiter.

Transit Jupiter was under the close affliction of Rahu (unexpected calamities).

Time and again, day by day, we see the power of SA.

Best wishes,

Subject: [SAMVA] Re: SA Techniques with Mundane Natal Charts

Dear Sandy,

I've been taking a break from participating on SAMVA lately, but I saw your response on behalf of Thor and the intentions of this list and thought it excellent. I say this while respecting and understanding the opposing viewpoints of others.

System's Approach is a rich world unto itself and there are a great deal of subtleties of application that are not apparent at first, including the use of the divisional charts. If one chaffs at the restraint of sufficiently staying within the SA boundaries, one may inadvertently miss or discount these subtleties of interpretation and predictive effectiveness is lost.

Speaking as someone who practiced western astrology for a number of years, one of the benefits of SA for me is the relief of _not_ having to refer to the outer planets for predictive purpose or the use of a great deal of supplementary charts. This includes reading transits from the Moon or looking obsessively for planetary yogas, most of which have no power unless the individual planets are evaluated for strength and weaknesses using the SA guidelines.

The major compensating factor in lieu of using the outer planets is the invaluable dasha system of prediction, of which there is no counterpart in western astrology.

So, I have found it an excellent discipline to stay within the fundamentals of SA and explore its principles within the wide context of the various areas of life, such as health, career, finance, and personal development. Each area is a world of study within itself using the principles of SA, and one can gain valuable insights by not rushing through one's developments in these areas. In other words, it takes a commitment of time, practice and experience to become "seasoned" as an SA practitioner and appreciate its elegant simplicity before trying to supplement it with outside techniques.

Although it might not be apparent at first, the use of additional techniques might not be needed in the first place if one understands the efficacy of SA thoroughly by staying sufficiently within its guidelines and becoming seasoned at it. Whether one is seasoned or not can only be decided by individual students, and I think they will know within their hearts the right answer when they take the time to reflect. Mundane astrology is only one area where the SA principles can be used.

Warm regards,

Haizen Paige

Under Professor Choudhry's blessing, last year Mr. Andrew Schulman and I started the Systems' Approach College to Vedic Astrology (USA) during an auspicious time.
Now, we have finally established a dedicated classroom, where weekly classes and tutoring can be held.
The classroom will also include a library of Professor Choudhry's books for our students and we will most likely video tape our main presentations.
Additionally, we hope to learn how to webcam classes as well...
The plan is also to hold annual conferences here in Fairfield, Iowa USA, and all members of SATVA and SAMVA will be invited to attend any of these at your convenience.
This school is based on the many years of success I have had using Systems' Approach.
Without SA, I would not pursue astrology as a profession.
SA is a breath of fresh air and a confidence-builder.
Let me share with you a recent experience.
As you know, I post a weekly column on the planetary transits, based on SA principles.
Yesterday, a Brahmin priest from India, now living in USA, contacted me and told me that my columns were always accurate for his rising sign.
He is an astrologer, but asked for my advice on a personal situation.
Today, I did his reading, and he was amazed at the accuracy of SA.
No one in the past ever told him HOW the planets were truly operating in his life, nor WHICH planets to study for the timing of events, nor did he know the proper REMEDIES for his chart.
He was very impressed and quite grateful.
SA is a blessing.
It is also such a great joy to belong to these newsgroups, with so many well-meaning and good-hearted astrologers from around the world.
I hope all of you will join me in continuing our studies and sharing of Systems' Approach worldwide.

----- Original Message ----- From: NL To: satva@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, July 2004 Subject: [satva] Re: Quiz and Good News!

Dear Shayn,

Having had a background in western astrology for over 30 years and a further 5 years in Classical Vedic astrology, I finally came across SA in about 1999. It has been such an eye-opening system of analysis compared to all of the rest that I now use it virtually daily. Like some other members on this list, I have been teaching SA (in Australia) for about 4 years now.

I recommend that you that keep practising SA analyses as often as you can. Though there are not many rules in SA compared to some other systems, the way in which they are used in analysis can lead to a lot of work. But, if you constantly stick with SA's methodical step-by-step analysis approach, you will find that you will not miss anything in the chart.

I have strived to be able to read a chart in 3 minutes, as Prof. Choudhry suggests in one of his books. In some cases I do come close but usually I need some extra time. However, I can see how it can be done quickly in order to get to the heart of a person's natal chart and understand the inpacts of the dasas and transits. This ability to spot the major things in a short time in a chart does assist you as a practitioner to be able to help others quickly when they have queries and are in need.

As for your daughter's event, when the time is not specified, the general rule is to use midday (12 noon). That makes the event 12 hours either side and allows you to quickly assess where the Moon might be. As you may know, the Moon moves approx. 13* per day so by using midday, the Moon can be 6.5* either side of its midday position. This allows you a bit of flexibility when analysing the Moon's transit position.

Stay with SA analysis, it is a good system.

Regards, NL

P.S. You may or may not know that we are also using SA in mundane astrology - looking at charts of countries as well as the stock market. This may also be of interest to you to extend your knowledge. Go to the SAMVA list at samva@yahoogrousp.com.

We have to become absolutely stone-cold impartial and cast aside our personal opinions of issues when it comes to analysis and prediction on those issues. Otherwise, it comes out all wrong, and finally leaves us with lower self-confidence. Our opinion of ourselves becomes worse than our opinion of the results. That should never happen to anybody.

Dear Prof and the list members,

It is events like this i.e prediction of the US Elections outcome, that give the SA movement the veener of respectability, repute and renown. Successful predictions on mundane astrology like the current event attain such notability, excitement and approbation within the general populace ( outside the astrological world) that name of the person credited with having being able to make the said prediction keeps dropping out of the lips of every person engaged in casual converstaion in restaurants, parties, homes and even at work places.

All this underlines the sheer vindication of the SA principles in laying bare the hidden secrets with utter simplicity and well regulated rules. This recent prediction by our Prof. is indeed a mark of distinction par excellence.

We look forward to your more inspiring revelations from time to time. Well done, Prof. You truly have earned an additional prized accolade which speaks volumes of your teachings.

Dear Prof. Choudhry

I refer to my telephone conversation with you this afternoon.

You are the only astrologer in the world whose prediction regarding my marital status has come true.

Sadly for me, I was divorced by my wife on 22nd May (one day after my birthday!).

I am devastated.

But I have to endure and accept my karma and try to move on…

Could you please advise me regarding the following by providing me specific feedback (in terms of time frame or dasa/bhukti framework):

I am currently applying for a senior position in a private institution (equivalent to Deputy Principal of a College in India). Will I get it? Is the period favourable for career promotion? If not, when will I get out of my current stagnation (which started in October 2000)? I was earning $100,000 in 1999. Currently I am earning a mere $69,000.

I have been told that no matter what I do, I shall never enjoy marital bliss in my life. The 12th house and 7th house (as well as 2nd house) are heavily afflicted. I turned 48 on 21st May 2006. Will there be ever any such happiness or bliss in my life in future? If yes, when?

When do you see me getting into writing and publishing books?

Thanks and regards

Manoj

Subject: [satva] SA -Guru-Student relationship

Dear List

Although I learned Astrology when I was young, I never had much confidence or hope in Astrological predictions due to prevelent confusions in many schools of thoughts in Astrology.

Only after learning SA I am satisfied with predictions. They basic principles followed by SA are really foolproof system. Ofcourse certain changes in delinations are being added when proved by or suggested by members without any hesitation. I don't think Professor VKC is against such changes. But changing the foundations of SA is defenitely not acceptable in the interest of the system itself or otherwise we will loose a great gift given to mankind by Prof VKC through his hard work and focused reasearch.

Sometimes Professor's straightforward answer is construed by some as unrewarding. To my observance when the members take advantage of his politeness, asking for more answers for their personal questions or trying to learn from him through the group instead of through his books, he is strict with them. Other than that always he is very obliging, a guiding factor and clear in his views and principles.

I doubt how many others in his position would not have revealed the reaserch materials so openly. Relentlesly he is probagating his research against all odds. As far as KAVACH is concerned he has revealed completely everything about it. And KAVACH is working for many to whom I prescribed. So it is not a $2 matter. It's worth shouldn't be measured in terms of it's material value. Nobody is forced to buy KAVACH from Professor. So commenting about it is not a right thing to do.

Professor VKC is not preventing anybody from following any method. If some reasons any body wish to deviate from SA rules, they can do so under their and own name & facilities there is nothing wrong about it. If it will bring some more benefits to astrology I am sure many will welcome.

In South India, one great Spiritual person probagated Advaita (Originally from Muslim Community) against all odds. Later one of his disciples differed with him on certain issues and started his own group. But the deciple turned Guru never spoke a single word against his Mentor or his methods. But always never failed to mention his mentor's name with Greatfulness. The deciple turned Guru is still alive and revered until today by all thanks to his high qualities.

One greatest insult is that many astrological groups try to paint other astrologers in wrong way. It should be stopped by all astrologers in all groups in the interest of Astrology itself and in the name of decency.................. ................. ................ Regards/Thiagarajan

Dear Rajeev,

I agree with you.

Actually there are many many astrologers around the world who are unable to digest the approach towards Jyotish that our Prof. has propounded. The are baffled with its lucidity , clarity and effectiveness. So all we have to do is just shun them off.

Every one will have to come to terms with SATVA....sooner or later. No budding jyotish can escape from its light. Systems approach can be understood and appreciated by practical learners of this science only.

Dear Kumar,

Yes, it is justified. There is no greater teacher than Prof. Choudhry. Anyone holding contrary views is surely entitled to their own private opinions.

Therefore, there is really no reason to turn this discussion group into a ....... debate. We know who is the legend, the one who is living. The one who is dead really did not breathe life into a living subject we call Jyotish.

Francis

----- Original Message ----- From: RKC To: Sent: Saturday, January 2007 Subject: Re: [satva101] Phaladipika
Dear S.G.
If you try to apply dicta of Bhavarth Ratnakar or any other classics without considering the strength and placement of planets you will not achieve success. Jupiter in Taurus ascendent for example would give good results only if strong and not afflicting any planet or house, as correctly pointed out in SA. Neechbhanga Raj yoga is definitely not consistent and good results obtained sometimes can be explained through other concepts. Although Saturn is debilitated for 2.5 years, it strength varies depending upon the strength of its dispositor, and on times it may be aspected by strong functional benefics. You always have to apply complete system, not just one concept in isolation.
The authors of articles I pointed out in AM were S.K.Singhania, V.K.Jain, and Suryanarain Rao etc. I will give you more detailed list tomorrow if you wish.

I agree with you that for the progress of a science, ideas should flow freely. At the same times everybody should be acknowledged for his ideas or work. B.V.Raman started the magazine where different people could share their theories. He should be appreciated for that.

Iyer and Krishnamurthy were first to challenge the classics, although the techniques they put forward were complicated and very different from the classical principles.

SA on the other hand is much more based on classicals and is very simple and universally applicable. Therefore I believe this has a great future, especially because Prof Chaudhury is putting great effort in explaining his point of view. As with any science, it also has a room to improve.

I think there is no use in talking to ICAS. If VKC could not convince them how can you?

Thanks
RKC

Dear Professor Choudhry,

Thank you for your kindness and help.

You remember that last year a power Kavach was made and given to 11yr. old Sóley to wear, as a gift from her grandmother. Sóley has Virgo ascendant. One problem with Sóley is that she has had great difficulty in settling down and studying since she began school. In past years it has been a torturous task to get her to do her homework and study for tests.

During her exams last May she wore an emerald ring and carried her Kavach with her, as the right date for putting it on had not yet arrived. Sóley, herself, was trying the "kavach and ring business" as an experiment, because her grandmother wanted her too. She was open to seeing if it would help her, but did not really believe in it. Last May, she got the BEST RESULTS that she has ever gotten in exams in school.

She has taken exams again last December, and got some of the highest marks in her class. We were all in stunned amazement. She did better than many of her friends who through six years of school together have always done better than her.

Now Sóley, who is 12 yrs. old, thinks of the Kavach as her lucky charm, and thinks that it helps her in school. ( I might add here that Sóley's mother does not believe in the Kavach, but to her credit, lets Sóley form her own opinion about what helps her.)

I told Sóley yesterday that the Professor is warning us that the coming weekend is going to be difficult, and reminded her to pray to God for protection, and that she has her Kavach to also help her. She listened to this advice and was glad to get some news of what the Professor is saying. ( Please Prof. Choudhry, do not take offense because I do not use your full name when speaking to Sóley about you.....it is easier for her to just refer to you as the Professor).

Sóley still has difficulties to work with in her life, as we all do, but there is a great improvement in her ability to concentrate on her school work and study since she began wearing her ring and Kavach. We also try to be aware of , and use appropriate medicines, remedies, support , etc.., to deal with each situation as it arises on the physical and mental-emotional levels.

Thank you for , Professor Choudhry for sharing your knowledge with us. It is a wonderful service for humanity.

Best Wishes,

Sara

Dear List Members
Today there has been a terrible train accident in Sydney . At the time of the accident MMP Mars was 99 % conjunct the MEP of the 3rd house in the Australian chart with the 3rd house also afflicted by Ketu . This is in line with Profeesor Choudhry's comments about the need for caution at the moment and comments that Thor and I have made about the need for Virgos to be very careful about travelling during the current transits.
Kind regards

Respected Prof. Sir,
All through this time I have gathered quite a bit of SATVA and have used your divine findings/research in Vedic Astrology in my case and all near and dear ones-not only in India but here in Malawi too.

I must tell you that I used to find learning Vedic Astrology greatly difficult but after finding about SATVA through Yahoo search engine-my impression about VA chnaged-I found SATVA to be practical and user-friendly.

I have now started "prescribing" astral remedies and to some extent can arrive at approximate timing of events. All your blessings. And of course they are working. I have the full set of 10 books from you and yr able son.

Sir, tentatively I shall be in my homwtown Delhi/Meerut this Dec03 and am looking forward to meeting you.

Sir, have you scheduled any "workshop' / seminar sort of thing in Dec ? I am very eager to have some hands-on and face to face interaction about SATVA with you.
Please advise accordingly.
Namaste,
RK, Malawi

I only wish I had known SA prior to this period. In fact during that time, even VA could not help me as all the classical knowledge I had acquired since I was 15 or 16 had been rendered utterly useless. I could not for the life in me understand what was going on. When every factor (MD, sub-period, triple transits) turns negative and stays negative for a while with one thing going bad after another and there being no relief in sight, like in 2005, the natal chart can basically just keep a person alive and breathing. I wonder if you have ever come across such a confluence of negative influences all at once in your years of study/practice... All the best, AR, USA
